Jessica and Brandon

Talk about a good start to a new year!
I photographed my first 2011 wedding for Jessica and Brandon in Lambertville on January 8. What a spectacular day! Brandon designed the winter inspired invitations, menus, etc and the weather couldn't have better complemented the snowflake theme. Jessica looked incredible. I started to cry before she even got dressed. I was reeling with excitement from the moment I left my house. The bridesmaids wore a beautiful ice blue that matched the inn's curtains, Jessica's eyes and her wedding day UGGs perfectly.

The limo driver was the most courteous man I have ever followed. The church was beautiful and the time there was full of those moments I pray for like Jessica being overwhelmed with emotion just by looking at her new groom (thanks Jessica!) and Brandon wiping away her tears (thanks Brandon!). The snow cooperated amazingly. Brandon told the priest that he put a call in to God for snow. I thought he was joking but I'm not entirely sure. Someone put stone steps leading to a snow filled state park right on the side of the road so the bridal party could get their photos taken and not have to walk too far (thanks Park Services!) and the wind stopped blowing so no one's hair got messed up.

This was the first time I ever wore my winter boots to a wedding. They are warm and heavy and keep my feet very dry. What I didn't know is that they squeak, extremely loud, on Catholic church floors. So, this was also the first time I photographed an entire ceremony in my socks. Thank goodness they didn't have holes in them!

It was a fantastic day and I am so happy I was able to be a part of it. Thanks so much to Jessica and Brandon and all their family and friends! I had a wonderful time with you!

What was I thinking?

Is a blog public or private? Public right? Everyone can see it if they want to so I am going to go with public.
So, this is a public apology to all of my past brides. I didn't realize how difficult it was to choose 70 images from 700 for your album. I am sorry I expected you to do it easily and wasn't more helpful. I have learned from my mistakes and will be much more helpful to brides from now on. I know that doesn't do anything for you but I am sorry just the same.
Love,
Julie

Happy New Year!

So, it's here. 2011. I am looking forward to looking forward. My business is in total renovation and I couldn't be more excited about a fresh start. My number one business resolution is to make coffee for wedding consults. I love coffee, the taste, the smell, the illusion it gives me that I can accomplish anything until the buzz wears off. I want to share that excitement when I meet with potential clients. My number two resolution is to stay on track and hold myself accountable. I just read an excellent article about working from home. It said to move your work space as far from your living space as possible, away from kids, spouse, distractions. I laughed a little because just yesterday, I brought my computer from my office to my kitchen table so I could be closer to the action! Counter productive I presume. My third and most exciting resolution is for post wedding consults. My goal is to edit wedding proofs, order the prints, create a 100-125 image slide show of my top picks and a wedding album layout to be viewed 3 weeks after the event. And again...make coffee. I am realizing how difficult it is for brides to choose 70 images from 700 and want to make things a little easier. If we do it together, brides will no longer have to wait so long for their album and I will never have to have an "album design season" of countless back to back designs again. I'm ready 2011, let's do this right!
